Happy June!
Thank You to all who participated and helped us advertise our online REMEMBER OUR TROOPS Auction in May!! We greatly appreciate your continued support!
Thank You to all who contributed to our Flower Power WINGS (Warrior Inspired Never-ending Gratitude Service) Fundraiser where we send a gift to a mother/wife to honor the son/husband killed in action in Iraq or Afghanistan. The love of her life says yes to serving our country and her world is crushed by loss. We want to let her know we remember his sacrifice. The more we raise for this program, the more WINGS gifts we send!!
News…what have we been up to?:
Last week Monday, we held a t-shirt distribution event through our Boots At Home Program where On Purpose Journey Inc. was the bridge between the company donating t-shirts and various organizations around the state who distributed thousands of shirts to at-risk veterans and the homeless. From Milwaukee, to Madison, to even Tomah…our t-shirt event was a success!!
Last week Friday, we spent the day celebrating Flag Day at the Marcus Center “Honor the Dead by Serving the Living” Event. Thanks to everyone for coming out to honor our military heroes! We even were able to have lunch with a WWII veteran!
Every month, care packages continue to be sent overseas. Each package costs $14.85 to ship to a military hero and contains $70-$80 of items: hygiene, snacks, dvd’s, lip balm, letters from home, and much much more depending on the needs of the warrior. So every time you donate $15, you’re sending a hello overseas to a guy or gal who said yes to serving our country…pretty tiny cost for such an enormous impact, right?!

CURRENT COLLECTION: Want to do something super cool for a wounded warrior for Independence Day? We need your help!! July 11th is Corey’s Alive Day and we want to add a bit of specialness to his day through our Hugs for Warriors Program. Protecting our freedom, Spc. Garmon was severely injured by an IED blast in Afghanistan on July 11th, 2012. Due to injuries, both legs were amputated below the knee. He also lost 70% use of his left hand, lost his left pinky, and sustained moderate damage to his eye. But Corey…is amazing. He married his best friend in February 2013 and they are expecting their first baby (girl). We are collecting notes of thanks for Corey along with financial donations. We will be sending Corey a gift package and we want to pack it with love from around the country and some gift certificates to help with the new baby. Would you help us send an awesome thank you to Corey? Please send your own words of thanks to: On Purpose Journey Inc., 660 Pine Terrace, Slinger, WI 53086. On Purpose Journey Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit charity. Deadline for this collection is June 28th, 2013, so we send his present in time for Corey’s Alive Day. Donations can also be made online at: www.OnPurposeJourney.com/donatenow

Thank you for what you are doing. As I see it, not all that do serve join the military! It takes special folks like you that support those that have enlisted. It is special people like you that let us know that what we do is for everyone. With volunteers like you that give freely of your time and energy ensures that we as Soldiers will continue to enlist and serve our country. -Roger

Thank you for everything during these past months. -Justin
Memorial day is a time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us, those who truly did give all. But I also think it would be wrong not to stop and remember those who make sacrifices for us every day. People like you who support us in the field and with the war at home, the war with ourselves. I’m truly grateful for you. -J

With Independence Day being around the corner, here is a quote to end this post:
It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us–that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion. -Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address
Thank you so much for being a part of our team. We all join to make a difference in this world!!
