KING OF THE OFFICE: Many thanks to our donors–YOU are life-changers. This message is for YOU, from one of our soldier’s overseas: I would like to say thank you for the boxes! I’m the King of the office now. We would like to take the time and thank you and your team for the support, people like you make our job well worth doing. Thank you, for all that you do for us (US ARMY) over here.
*We still have military service members overseas, so we continue to send care packages to them. Please consider donating to help send Morale Builder Packages overseas and create more “king of the office” moments!
9/11 TRIBUTE EVENTS COMING UP!: We are planning two 9/11 Tribute Events for 9/11/15! Firefighter/law enforcement officer/military/veteran teams will deliver THE LITTLE WHITE TRUCK WITH THE BIG MISSION books to 5th grade classes in the morning. In the evening, we’re partnering to host a STANDING FOR THE FALLEN Memorial Display honoring the 343 firefighters killed on 9/11, 72 law enforcement killed on 9/11, and 165 military service members from Wisconsin who were killed in action since 9/11/01. Mark your calendar–more information about the events will be coming soon!
WHY JOIN with firefighters and law enforcement?: The book (THE LITTLE WHITE TRUCK WITH THE BIG MISSION) is a tool for awareness and education, and is a way to unite military and vets with others who serve in our community. Firefighters/Police/Veterans share some of the same challenges when it comes to putting their lives on the line for strangers. We are honored to join efforts.
*We are looking for sponsors for the 9/11 Tribute Events. Your sponsorship will help cover the costs associated with delivering a message of ALWAYS REMEMBER to the students and displaying a message of NEVER FORGET in the community!!
IN THE NEWS: A One By One Article was written about On Purpose Journey Inc. serving those who serve (and explains why the Packers may have won the game against the Eagles)! You can read it here: http://info.4imprint.com/blog/on-purpose-journey/
BEHIND BARS: This blog gives David a voice and connections to share his experiences with PTSD from behind bars. As you will see, there are intellectual responses and the emotional responses (light and darkness.) David isn’t looking for sympathy. He’s using writing as a way to spread awareness to those without combat experience and understanding to those who have been and may still be “there.” https://incarceratedveteran.wordpress.com/
HISTORIC DAY: March 25th is National Medal of Honor Day. It is also a day Milwaukee will be changed forever. Gary Wetzel, Medal of Honor recipient, is being celebrated. He is one of 79 living recipients of the Medal of Honor. A granite marker will be unveiled at the Milwaukee County War Memorial on the morning of March 25th, 2015. The street in front of the War Memorial is being renamed Gary G. Wetzel Medal of Honor Way. A banquet is being held to honor Gary on the evening of March 25th. The banquet is sold out but all are invited to attend the unveiling of the street sign and granite marker at noon. Free parking is available at O’Donnell Parking Structure (make sure to pick up a wrist band at the event as your “ticket” for free parking.) Special Gary Wetzel National Medal of Honor Coins will be sold for $15 marking this day in history. If you purchase a coin, be sure to check out the smiley faces on the edges.
Until Next Time. . . LET’S DO THIS.
