We’d love to be the How 🙂
2. Organize A Collection: At your work, at your school, writing notes to troops overseas, take a $$ collection to ship items overseas. Every Effort Makes A Difference.
3. If You Know of Places That Award Grants for Troop/Veteran Projects: Please let us know. Now that we’re a non-profit, we’re applying for grants to expand our services and reach more heroes.
4. Financially, we’re in need funds. Every dollar helps get a box in the hands of a soldier, sailor, marine, airman, coast guardsman, or national guardsman or woman who doesn’t receive support from home. Please Help! (From a Veteran who received a care package) I am a Vietnam Veteran having served in Vietnam in 1971-1972. My younger brother and his family go to your church and I have visited for some Christmas programs . They gave me a care package from your church and when they said care package, it flooded my mind with memories from getting care packages from home during my tours. Care packages were just a soldiers highlight that brought things from home to share with all your buddies. I was in an 81mm mortar platoon and everyone whom got a care package from home shared it with all of the guys. Care packages were not common as we were always out on remote fire bases, but usually they came around big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. The other care packages came from the Red Cross and were split up evenly with everyone on the entire firebase. They contained writing materials, cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, shaving cream, pens, soap and everyone’s favorite, M&M’s. The M&M”s tasted like the soap in the package, but we ate them anyway as it was chocolate. To think of soldiers at Christmas and to include us old Vets is so nice it made me choke up a bit, good tears. Than you again. -Jim
